Senior Spotlight: Senior spring athletes finish season with a bang

Delaney Young: Softball
What has been the highlight of your time with Augustana softball?
“The highlight of my time here on the softball team is definitely all of my teammates. I am so grateful for all the lifelong friendships I have made here at Augie. I would not have been able to make it through college without my team. I love them so, so much.”
What is your favorite memory with the team?
“My favorite memory is definitely all the way back to my freshman year when we won the National Championship. I will always remember screaming Post Malone’s “Congratulations” in the locker room with my teammates.”
What are your plans after graduation?
“After graduation I plan to move back to my hometown — Cottage Grove, Minnesota — and hopefully teach American Sign Language to high schoolers.”
Jonah Breuer: Track & Field
What has been the highlight of your time on the team?
“Simply getting the opportunity to train with a group of guys that will become lifelong friends.”
What hopes do you have for the future of the team?
“I would love to watch the cross country team win a national championship under [coach] Tracy Hellman.”
What are your plans after graduation?
“My plan is to pursue my doctorate in physical therapy starting in June through Augustana University’s newly established DPT hybrid-learning program.”
Britney Thong Sing Yi: Dance
What has been the highlight of your time on the team?
“I really enjoyed learning new, challenging routines with the girls. And also eating supper together after practice every Monday and Wednesday night. These girls are more than just members of the dance team, they are family.”
What is your favorite memory with the team?
“My favorite memory with the team would be training together at our home camp. We ate together, slept together, and suffered together, forging long-lasting friendships and comradery beyond just my grade.”
What hopes do you have for the future of the team?
“I hope the team continues to strive for excellence and gains a competitive dance coach in the near future to allow the AU dance team to compete.”
What are your plans after graduation?
“I plan to work for a year or two before applying to grad school to pursue further education in Chemistry.”
Lizzy Karp: Basketball
What has been the highlight of your time with the team?
“The highlight of my time with Augustana women’s basketball is easily the connections I have made. Not only were my teammates the most amazing people and the best support system I could have asked for to help guide me through undergrad, but the amazing coaching staff truly stood out. Every single one of them cared deeply for all the girls, and I know they would do anything for any of us. I am so lucky to be able to count on them and blessed to know I have them in my corner for the rest of my life.”
What are your plans after graduation?
“After I graduate in a few weeks, I have a lot of plans to travel to a few different places this summer. Once I have finished galavanting, I will be attending the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in the fall and become a [doctor of dental surgery] and one day hope to open my own family dentistry practice.”
Tyson Cowger: Tennis
What is your favorite memory with the team?
“My favorite memory was beating Midland University this year 4-3. We had lost to them every year since I had been in school, so it was cool to finally take that next step as a program and beat the schools that have historically been better than you. The match was extra sweet personally because it was tied 3-3, and it came down to my match, which I thankfully won in a third set.”
What are your plans after graduation?
“I’ve worked for Otis Elevator Co. the past two summers in Minneapolis and Las Vegas. Fortunately, after my summer in Las Vegas, they offered me a full-time job in Chicago after graduation, where I’ll be working as an operations and sales analyst. It’s like a hybrid construction management, project management and sales role.”
